Content standards and maintenance
Editorial policy
Effective 22 July 2026. This policy applies to all laboratory content on the site.
1. Audience and scope
The site is for researchers performing conventional Western blot experiments. Content focuses on experimental planning, sample preparation, SDS-PAGE, transfer, antibody incubation, detection, quantification and troubleshooting. Each page should help a reader complete a defined task or decide what to check or change next.
2. Source selection and precedence
Product instructions for the exact antibody, gel, membrane and device take highest priority, followed by the manufacturer’s official technical protocols, then peer-reviewed methods and accepted reporting guidance. Important recommendations should be traceable to accessible sources.
3. Parameters and uncertainty
General parameters are presented with their intended use, important exceptions, what to observe and when adjustment may be needed. A single condition is not described as universally optimal when the result depends on the target, antibody, sample or equipment.
4. Authorship and review information
The maintainer’s identity is disclosed. An external author or reviewer is named only when a real identity, role and review scope can be stated publicly. Authorship does not imply that every condition has been independently replicated in one laboratory.
5. Technical maintenance and updates
Affected pages are rechecked when product protocols, methods literature or reporting guidance change substantially. Broken links are repaired or replaced. Layout, spelling and link-format changes are not presented as scientific content updates.
6. Correction policy
Errors that could affect experimental setup or interpretation are corrected first. Product documentation, original literature or another appropriate source is checked before a correction is made. Substantive changes update the page review date and any related workflow, recipe or troubleshooting recommendation.
7. User responsibility
Readers should retain positive and negative controls, transfer verification, unsaturated source images and complete experimental records. This site does not replace product instructions, institutional safety requirements, laboratory SOPs or professional interpretation of source data.
Submit a technical correction
When reporting an error, broken source or statement that could affect experimental setup or interpretation, include the affected page, a description of the problem and any source that can be checked.
